Shirley grew up in small town Saskatchewan where she gained an appreciation for the beautiful skies, the changing atmosphere and the prairie landscape. A degree in Nursing, marriage and raising four active children meant little time for painting until later in life.

Since she began painting while living in Ontario, Shirley has studied with several well-respected artists. Oil and watercolor are her favorite media. She paints for the enjoyment it provides and to express how she views her world.

Shirley’s work is unique and colorful. Her subject matter includes landscape, still life and figurative works. Her paintings have found homes throughout Canada and the United States.
